Hillary just invited Obama -- through the press -- to share her stage in Maine. Here is the link.
I think this smells a bit of desperation. Perhaps she is running out of money and needs the free media attention (some have suggested that her $6MM from the last two days have gone towards paying of Hillary and Bill (plus interest?)) and that she is again running low. Frankly, I don't care what here money situation is like. And I don't care whether she needs Obama's media glow to get on television. I just think it is a bad idea.
Obama has already scheduled events in Maine. He should stick to them. Let the disperate sizes of their respective audiences be the "discussion" between them. But he shouldn't alter his schedule to accomodate her needs. He should do what he will do when he is President -- talk directly to the American people -- in this case, the people of Maine.
Oh...and Hillary, if you need to reach Barack to discuss a possible joint appearance, I think you have the Senate Directory. Also, he has a website: www.barackobama.com. (While you are there, feel free to donate to the Next President of the United States.) Barack doesn't share phone numbers, fax machine numbers or email addresses with ABC, NBC, MSNBC, CNN, CBS and Fox News. I am just saying....
I seriously doubt that people have questions about where Barack and Hillary stand on the issues that face this country. To the extent they do, they can always visit the campaign's respective web sites or call the campaign's respective phone numbers. Seriously, we've had 18 friggin' debates already. The candidates should spend their time talking to the American people, not trying to stop Wolf Blitzer from talking over their respective talking points.
Hillary's desire to share a stage is unworthy of consideration. Let's move on already.
EDIT: This was my response to a comment below:
He should say:
18 friggin debates.
XX hundreds of hours.
YY different moderators and questioners.
ZZ different channels and sponsors.
I have yet to talk directly to the people of Maine. I intend to do that in my events I have scheduled here. We will revisit this in...three weeks.
I think that is about right.
